Welcome to Véraison Vineyards

In 1999, Marisa and I moved from New York City to London. Taking advantage of the similar time zones, we made our first venture to South Africa. We were instantly smitten and promised each other that we would return.

In 2006, we went to visit friends in Franschhoek and fell in love all over again. By May of 2007, we purchased a Burgundian sized vineyard and farm house just 5 minutes from the Franschhoek village centre. Prior to producing wine and olive oil, this 2.5 Ha plot had been the premier cultivator of roses in South Africa. When we tasted the 2006 vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon, we were glad the roses had been replaced with vines.

We are fortunate to be able to pair our wine with some amazing artists from South Africa.  Each year, we feature a different work on our label. On the back label you will find further information about the artist and a link to their website.

Our wines are made to age. Depending on the vintage, they spend 9-16 months in French oak barrels and 4-5 years in the cellar. We only release them when they are ready.  So, enjoy them now, or let them age in your cellar.
